Joanna Borromeo is a Juno-nominated vocalist, pianist, composer, music arranger, and music teacher influenced by some of the deepest, most beautiful musicians in history.

Since releasing her first self-produced EP in 2010, her original music has landed on numerous R&B/Soul and Jazz radio charts across Canada and has earned her two major award nominations: a Western Canadian Music Award for Best Soul/R&B Album of the Year in 2013 and a Juno Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year in 2014. Her music has also landed her opportunities to perform in some of California’s most significant music venues for jazz, hip hop, R&B, and soul, including The Blue Whale in LA and Yoshi’s in San Francisco. Along the way, she has performed at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival, The Medicine Hat Jazz Festival, and the Toronto International Jazz Festival.

Beyond her work as an original music artist, Joanna has worked extensively as a multi-genre musician in Toronto, performing in local venues and touring across Canada, The UK, and the Caribbean. She’s worked with Divine Brown, Slakah the Beatchild, David Myles, God Made Me Funky, Häzel, Beatsofreen, and Dione Taylor. Currently, Joanna is a member of Calgary Without Patriarchy, a contemporary jazz collective, and the newly formed R&B all-female trio Bitch, It’s Sunday. She also runs her own teaching studio and plays locally for events. as a soloist and member of acclaimed party band, SideOne. New original material is in the works and is expected to be released in 2022.
